    In providing such industry-based training, the school relies on strong ties with industry for the teaching, case studies and projects provided.

     

    The educational approach is based on problem solving, the use of industrial data and much more.

     

    This is reflected in a variety of practices, including:

     

    • one-to-one tutoring, career goals for each student, work-related social skills development
    • work-study training: apprenticeship training based on work experience
    • modern educational approaches

     

    The IFP School's educational model

     

    • Professional training programs in specific sectors.
    • An educational model which mainly revolves around finding out about and solving industrial issues.
    • The major contributions to training made by industry are a fundamental value of IFP School which is reflected and made concrete in the apprenticeship programs:
      - during the time spent studying at IFP School (50%-70% of teaching is provided by industrial players);
      - during the time spent working in companies (tutoring provided by apprenticeship supervisors).
    • Progressive incorporation of knowledge and skills acquired at IFP School and as part of work placements and development of a comprehensive view of the sector, the hallmark of all IFP School engineers.
    • Intercultural component of training illustrated by the intermingling within the School of French and international students, apprentices and students with a few years'work experience.

     

     

    Its positioning as a school providing industry-based training, acting as a transition between general engineering training and identified industrial sectors, led to IFP School taking up educational approaches focused on actual or simplified industry-based problem-solving to acquire relevant skills. This approach is entirely in line with training through apprenticeship programs.

     

    IFP School’s educational model also draws on the needs of the energy and transport sectors for outward-looking and capable engineers able to thrive in multicultural environments. The intermingling, within the school, of French and foreign students, apprentices and students with a few years' work experience gives high added value to the professional training programs offered by IFP School.
