Interview of Jean-Charles de Hemptinne, Professor at IFP School and Chair of Thermodynamics for Biomass Fuels by Marcelo Castier, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University at Qatar.

 

Jean-Charles de Hemptinne begins by recalling the fundamentals of thermodynamics and its role in chemical engineering design. Against the backdrop of significant environmental issues, these are the foreseeable challenges in this field:

-          Introducing renewable raw materials in products

-          Exploiting resources coming from waste

-          Conceiving new materials

-          Developing energy-efficient processes

 

These are the challenges that thermodynamics & chemical engineers nowadays have to dwell on when working on the processing of raw materials.
