The annual seminar of the CarMa research and teaching chair was held on November 19, 2025, at IFP School. This strategic event brought together academic experts, doctoral students, and industry representatives, united around a common goal: accelerating the transition to a carbon-free industry.

Researchers from renowned academic institutions such as CentraleSupélec, the University of Michigan, the University of Berlin, and AgroParisTech-CERAD, as well as industry leaders such as TotalEnergies, Saint-Gobain, Schneider Electric, and EDF, shared their perspectives and explored concrete solutions to critical challenges, including:

  • The integration of the BECCS (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage) technology supply chain,
  • The effectiveness of the ETS (Emissions Trading System) in reducing carbon emissions,
  • Modeling optimal trajectories in strategic choices for “defossilization,” particularly in the electricity sector,
  • Identifying economic models associated with decarbonization, and
  • Societal acceptability of CDR (Carbon Dioxide Removal) technologies.

This seminar highlighted the complex and interdependent challenges that the CarMa Chair's research and teaching program must address in order to effectively support the transition to decarbonization. Discussions also emphasized the urgent need to develop stronger cooperation between academia and industry in order to overcome these obstacles and accelerate the achievement of climate goals.
