2019 Rueil-Malmaison Hackathon

On November 17, Pierre Cayet and François Loislard won the "Health" prize at the "Rueil Land of Innovation - Hackathon Challenge" organized by the city of Rueil-Malmaison.

For 48 hours, 33 young men and women, between the ages of 18 and 30 organized in groups, developed innovative projects on topics such as urban ecology, health and energy, to reinvent the city of tomorrow.

Each group was accompanied by mentors (including Olivier Bernaert, professor at IFP School), who supported and structured the participants' projects and helped them develop original ideas and design innovative projects on the city. The teams were also invited to present a first prototype of their innovation, using a 3D printer and virtual reality headsets.

The "Health" prize was awarded to the "Cigarette Butt Slaughter" team composed of Pierre Cayet (IFP School), Maxime Kjellegren (CESI Nanterre), Lorette La Torre (PSL Universities) and François Loislard (IFP School) for their project "Stop Cigarette Butt". This project presented the introduction of connected public ashtrays to encourage smokers to use them and to deliver prevention messages. It would act as innovative street furniture reducing pollution and encouraging people to stop smoking.

François Loislard is a former student of the Energy and markets program (Class of 2016) who now works as a risk manager in energy markets at Dalkia. Pierre Cayet is doing his doctorate in the Centre for Economics and energy management at IFP School, as part of the Chair in Electricity Economics and Digital Transition.

In addition to a prize of 1000 euros, the winners of the competition will be accompanied by the City's teams associated with partner companies, so that their projects can become a reality and soon turn Rueil into a territory of experimentation.

Congratulations to them!
