Biography of Volker Sick

Member of the Scientific Council of the CarMa Chair

Volker Sick is Director of the Global CO2 Initiative of the University of Michigan. This project aims to identify and pursue commercially sustainable approaches that have the potential to reduce global atmospheric CO2 levels.

Also a mechanical engineering professor, Volker is holder of the DTE chair in Advanced Energy Research.

His research focuses on the accelerated deployment of CO2 utilization technologies, on the development and application of optical measurement techniques for studies of mass and energy transfer, as wells as diseases of the human eye.

His teaching includes laboratory courses, the International Engineering Summer School at TU Berlin and Techlab@Mcity.

Volker Sick has a PhD in chemistry and a Professorial Thesis in physical chemistry from the University of Heidelberg.
