PEPD students during their field placement in the Alès and Cévennes region

In its September 21 issue, the daily Midi Libre reports on the field placement carried out by students in IFP School's Petroleum Engineering and Project Development (PEPD) program in the Alès basin and Cévennes.

Accompanied by Carla Castillo, a lecturer at the Georesources and Energy Center, the students took to the region's trails to learn about geosciences.

Thanks to the region's geological diversity, they discovered evolutionary tectonics, clastic and carbonate sedimentology, analogous reservoirs and the petroleum system.

Geoffray Musial, a geologist at IMT Mines Alès, who supervised the group alongside Arnaud Torres, lecturer at IFP School's Georesources and Energy Center, points out that “this was a magnificent learning ground”.

According to Geoffray Musial, the region “offers incredible diversity and complexity, from the granites and schists of the Cévennes to the limestones of the Garrigues and the coalfields”.

Learning in the field alongside experts in the field is one of the strengths of our School!
