Equinor (formerly Statoil and StatoilHydro) is a Norwegian oil and wind energy company founded in 1972. It is the largest company in Norway with about 29,000 employees. Equinor is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and the NYSE, but the Norwegian State still holds the majority of the company, with 70.26% of the shares, including 3.26% through Folketrygdfondet, the national insurance fund. Equinor's headquarters are located in the Norwegian oil capital, Stavanger.
