Dear Graduates,
May has just come to an end, marked as every year by a key moment in the life of the School: the Boards of Admissions. These rich and stimulating exchanges already hint at a promising Class of 2026, both for our Specialized Engineering and Advanced Masters programs. We look forward to welcoming this new generation of students starting September 1.
As summer approaches, I’m pleased to share some excellent news with you:
- Our students excelled at the EAGE Laurie Dake Challenge, earning second place;
- Student teams from the Electrification and Automotive Propulsion (EPA) and Energy and Powertrains (MOT) programs won awards at the latest SIA Student Challenge, securing 2nd and 3rd place for best student posters;
- More broadly, our collective commitment to a rigorous, inclusive, and fulfilling educational environment was once again recognized by the HappyIndex®AtSchool ranking: IFP School climbed to second place nationally in the 2024 France ranking, in the "CTI-accredited engineering degree" category—just behind Mines Paris PSL. A great honor from our students, which encourages us to keep moving forward in this direction.
As of the return to school in September we will be strengthening our academic positioning with the launch of three new programs in forward-looking areas: Energy and Carbon Management in Business (in partnership with INSTN), Offshore Wind Project Development, and Electricity Management and Digital. The latter is featured in this issue: a program at the crossroads of engineering, economics and data science, designed to meet growing electricity demands.
Also in this spirit of openness and skill-building, we recently welcomed Hosein Derijani (Class of 2004) as a new member of the teaching team in the Georesources and Energy Center. In this newsletter, he reflects on his journey and what motivated his return to IFP School.
Finally, we highlight a bold final-year student project—combining electric mobility and performance: the development of an electric kart! A perfect example of both the strong ties to IFPEN’s R&I activities and the advanced skills developed by our students.
Wishing you a wonderful summer and looking forward to reconnecting in the autumn!
Warm regards,
Pascal Longuemare, PhD
