The class of 2021

The class of 2021 returned to school on 1 September in strict compliance with health rules: 277 students joined the 10 industry-oriented programs of IFP School.

The new intake breaks down as follows: 63 students in upstream sectors, 78 in downstream programs, 64 in powertrains programs and 72 in economics-related programs.

During the induction week, students from the 2021 class took part in a sports challenge at the Château de Vert-Mont at Rueil-Malmaison in strict compliance with health rules.

Diversity on display

With 51 nationalities represented, the new intake has broken a record in terms of diversity: at the School, international students, who number 144, account for 52% of intake.

The three most heavily represented countries, with more than 10 students each, are Brazil, Morocco and Lebanon.

The vast majority of international students made it to the School on time to start their training. Their arrival was subject to international mobility constraints and conditional upon self-isolation for a period of two weeks or a negative PCR test.

The some fifty students who were unable to return on 1 September still managed to study thanks to remote learning. To better support them, the School introduced a system of “study buddies” – pairs of on-campus and remote-learning students.

Original academic curriculum

Among the 277-strong intake, 193 students come from French engineering schools or universities.

The French engineering schools most represented in the class are ENSIC, with 14 students admitted, as well as ENSAM, ENSCP and UTC, with 12 students each.

Support of industry partners for students

At the heart of the IFP School teaching model are close ties with industry. Despite the present environment, in 2020 85.5% of students benefited from industry support.

In all, 53 companies chose to back the training of students, apprentices and/or seconded professionals.

Ten firms back four students or more: Total, TechnipFMC, Axens, ExxonMobil, PSA, EDF, IFP Energies nouvelles, Equinor, Storengy, the Nigerian foundation Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Renault, Elengy, Air Liquide and GRT Gaz.
